Charles Egerton letters to H.J. Allen.
Collection consists of a folder of photocopies of letters written by Charles William Egerton to his friend H.J. Allen in India who was then teaching at Presidency College, Madras. The letters contain interesting insights into university life, New Zealand social circumstances
and Egerton's family life. The eleven letters date from 1894 to 1916.
Edward Bartley reminiscences of early Auckland.
Early reminiscences of Auckland describing Bartley's arrival in 1854, and his work as a carpenter and the buildings he worked on. There are a few anecdotes about the New Zealand Wars, an account of the "eight hour" movement, and brief summaries of his involvement in technical education and the Auckland art scene. Typescript document the contents of which Bartley may have given as a presentation.
